Styles P is one of my favorite rappers of late. In my opinion he's better than Jadakiss, yea i said it. In fact I'll say it again STYLES P IS BETTER THAN JADAKISS. But I digress, today i just heard the new Styles P Phantom Empire Mixtape shown above, and needless to say, its pure flames. Well almost, his Day N Nite freestyle is kind of terrible, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Now I've never heard of Oren Lavie and i really havent given his music a chance yet, but he made a RIDICULOUS video that i randomly saw today on MTVU of all places. Maybe there is hope for MTV after all.
Now I havent really been on my denim game for a while, I'm not gonna front I just wear my regular cheap 501s, however I am pretty into the whole culture of it. I stumbled upon this site and not only does it have a history of denim and a break down of what cotton really is, it also has a denim dictionary, so you can bullshit your way thru conversations with hipsters!
So I've been on Drake since late 07 early 08, and since So Far Gone has taken over the streets, I've decided to post the mixtapes before So Far Gone that really defined Drake, Room for Improvement, Comeback Season and Heartbreak Drake:
His first mixtape was Room For Improvement, way back in 06, if you've only heard so far gone his rap style might catch you off guard as its completely different now.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S9JL8TKS Personally Comeback Season is my favorite Drake Mixtape

Heartbreak Drake, around this point you can really hear Lil Waynes influence as he goes from Drake to Drizzy:

and there you have it. Everything you really need to know about Drake. Hope this helps
So I was searchin for a new template for this blog cuz i thought this one was getting a little stale. As i was doin that though i started noticing alot of similarities between finding a template for my blogspot, with finding a template for my myspace...which was alot like picking out a template for my blackplanet. then i started thinking about it more and realized that at the time i thought both of those were the shit, but then i got bored with each one respectively and moved on. The thing that got me tho is that everyone does that. Everyone had a blackplanet or a xanga, then got a myspace, and now has a facebook. But eventually everyone got tired of each one and moved on to the next. So next everyones gonna get tired of facebook and probably get a twitter or a blogspopt, and everyones gonna get tired of those too and keep it moving . Whats weird though is that people put everything into the-ok hold on someone around me just farted...ewwwwwwwww....alright back to it, everyone got mad personal with their facebooks or myspaces or blackplanets or whatever, but after that eeryone just moved on, so its like we just wasted mad time.
damn that was alot more sobering than i thought itd be. Eh
So last night i was chillin with some friends of mine gettin fucked up havin a ball, until one told me about their new blog. Now at first i really didnt care cuz i have my own, and its better than theres cuz its mine (obviously), but then they told me that they only posted on it when they were fucked up. And since i was fucked up at the time they asked me if i wanted to post something. I graciously accepted their offer. So here's the link to that blog post:
and if u read that post you probably noticed i said something about an ill mixtape, well here that is:
the titles pretty self explanatory. Its been out for years now, but i just heard one of the tracks off it on 88.9 the other day and realized that i had to share this with those who dont know who know me.
So the french are always the butts of jokes these days, theyre cowards, they smell bad, we saved them in world war 2, theyre snobs, etc etc. We tend to forget the great things that the french have done, French Fries, Tony Parker, French Toast and of course the Blowjob. One thing that always goes overlooked is music. Hiphop at that. Name 3 french rappers. ....
Yea i doubt you'd know any, but dont feel bad, i dont know much either about french rappers cuz, after 5 years of french, i dont know any. However I do know about a french producer, which brings me to the album cover at the top of this post.
I dont know alot about DELA, im not even sure if he/she/they are french or not, but what i do know is that this mixtape (yes its actually a mixtape so u can get it for free legally) has french influences, and its also pure crack. All you wanna do when you listen to this is just smoke a blunt and chill, just vibe. I definitely recommend it.
Oh yea Blu's on it. =O
and heres a link to download it. You need winrar though.
Alright, as you probably already know I'm pretty into stand up comedy, so i figured since this is my blog and i can write about whatever i want that i should definitely write about stand up. Wow that was ill run-on sentence. Oh Well. I thought I'd put you on to some of my favorite comedians that arent Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor.
First We have Louis C.K. he's pretty intense though I'm not gonna lie. So if your easily offended I suggest you work your way up to Louis C.K.
Next theres Bill Burr, who in my opinion does the best jokes on race relations I've ever heard.
Now for all you English Majors we have Patton Oswalt. He's both hilarious, and smart, he makes jokes about novels, so if your not well read you may not get everything he says. But I still highly suggest him
Next here's Daniel Tosh, I love his jokes because they start so general and end so obscure that if you actually get the joke, you laugh that much harder cuz you know exactly what he's talking about. He also says alot of horrible horrible things. But if you watch alot of TV i suggest you peep this dude. Pure hilarity
If your wondering to yourself, Tawanda where are the black comedians? this next guy's for you. He's like comedy's nate robinson, short but tons of heart.
Well i highly doubt you'd watch this many videos, so ill stop here before it looks like i have way too much time on my hands. Enjoy!
So i havent updated this in a while, it might just be that i care less and less about it everyday, or it may just be im really lazy. I'm like 80 percent sure that its the latter, and not the former. Anyway i'm just coming off of St Patricks Day, and I'm not gonna lie I'm a tad fucked up. So please bear with me. Anyway to start this shit off i got the illest video:
yes, Ask Cam'ron! He's officially back ladies and gentlemen, break out the Sizzurp!
Next is music. I have to say something about my boys band. So here
White Shoe Brown Shoe, I'm not really a big rock person but I kinda like to describe it as kind of folky, I had their 5 song demo on for hours and really didnt mind.
peep them at : http://www.whiteshoebrownshoe.com/whiteshoebrownshoeindex.html
for some tracks, they got a myspace so : http://www.myspace.com/whiteshoebrownshoe
if you want a copy of the demo, try to be friends with them, theyll hook you up.
Next my little fashion observations:
Black and White combinations are ill Denim is ill Flannel will never die Linen shirts are amazing FadeHawks (black low-cut mohawks) just suck. Dressing like a whore will never go out of style.
And umm, i think thats everything. If you wanna know about me personally, just now that im in a good place that can always get better.
So I found this CD, i dont really know alot about it, i just know that a couple of DJs got together and remixed the hell out of everything from Ghostface to Santogold, who's slowly becoming a household name btw (i can easily see her stealing MIAs spot while she's on maternity leave). I havent really listened to alot of it yet but from what I've heard its pretty straight. You should definitely peep.
Yea i stopped posting for a while cuz i realized all this blog really was was youtube videos and pictures of clothes, and you can easily find youtube videos and pictures of clothes. So that kind of killed my morale but I've decided that I could do alot better and I'll start...tomorrow. Meanwhile here's a really awesome video
